Continued from below..... (Reverse Reading!) They had three children. Marvin Mulig, being my Grandfather, married Dolley Embery and they had two children. My Dad, Royal Dean Mulig, married Dorothy Ann Hennington and they had four children. Me, Steven Lee Mulig married Kimberly Renee Wall and we have three children (All Boys) and one due in September 2004 (it is a GIRL!). So as you can see in my long but quick synopsis of my tracing of my Mulig name it was changed from MUHLIG to MULIG. I have not been able to trace any further back than 1765 but have had some research that may suggest that the Muhlig's came over from Europe around 1746 (Not Confirmed) and settled in Nova Scotia (Confirmed). I am pretty certain that we are German and were part of England's Protestant insurgency into the "New World". Continued from below..... (Reverse Reading!) Great Great Grandfather being Charles Frederick Muhlig Jr. (I use Jr. to distinguish between the two and Jr. was never used in any of my research) He moved from Nova Scotia to Wisconsin where he met Josephine Clark. Since he was not a citizen of the United States at that time and since the union was offering a homestead for all volunteers who joined the Union Army, during the Civil War, he enlisted into the Wisconsin Volunteer Cavalry. He changed our last name from Muhlig to Mulig when he enlisted into the Army and I have a copy of his enlistment. He then served three years got his Naturalization Papers, again he spelled his name and signed his name with Mulig instead of Muhlig. He and Josephine got married and homesteaded, again I have the homestead deed, in Lincoln Nebraska. They had many children one being Elmer Mulig, My Great Grandfather. I have gotten many emails about the Mulig name so I will provide all with what I have been able to uncover in my many years of research and searching of my family tree. We do sound out our name with the U in the name as a long U sound, mUlig. I have been able to track my side of the family back to Nova Scotia in 1765. My Great Great Great Great Great Grandfather, Frederick Muhlig, married a Frances Mathew in 1765 in Nova Scotia. They had two sons, Frederick and Thomas Muhlig born in Nova Scotia. My Grandfather:Frank Mulig born 1887,in Jastrebarsko Croatia. Immigrated to America 1905. Found his estranged Father Ignatz Mulig who was all ready in Youngstown Ohio. Frank later settled in Gloversville N.Y. where there was a large community of Croatians. More information available, are you related? |

I was doing some research on my husbands side of the family and decided to see if I could find anything on ours. I know that my grandfathers family name was Mulig but he changed it to Mullig many years ago. His name was John Mullig and he lived in Washington state. The Flash works really good and loads fast with my computer and logged on the internet at 49333 bps. I already had Flash (plug-in) on my computer. I see no problems using Flash. |
